About the Speakers
Mick Smith
Director of Accreditation, COBIS. Mick has over 25 years of teaching and leadership experience, working in wonderful schools in Tanzania and Thailand, where he loved teaching Modern World History across the 11-18 age range. Mick has broad school leadership experience, including as Secondary School Principal at Bangkok Patana School from 2007-2020. He brings in-depth understanding of education in the international school context, including as a parent to his two internationally educated daughters.
Mick has an MA in Educational Leadership and Management from the Institute of Education at UCL, where his dissertation focused on democratic leadership.
Louise Bell
Safeguarding Officer, COBIS. Louise is the Safeguarding Officer at COBIS. Her experience in education has involved serving as a School Governor for a primary school as a Safeguarding Link Governor for 6 years. She served on the Teaching and Learning Committee and Safeguarding Committee. She was also Chair of the Advisory Board of a Children’s Centre in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames. Before that, Louise had a management role in Customer Relations at British Airways.
