About This Resource

Philippa Wraithmell’s book “Digital Ecosystem” offers an innovative approach to digital education, helping to build capacity within schools. By comparing schools to an ecosystem, Philippa depicts teachers and stakeholders as “domes”, emphasising their vital roles of nurturing the learning environment for students to thrive. She introduces an orderly and intricate framework of “digital sustainable strategy”, providing a solid foundation for integrating technology and education in school curriculums.

As schools have varied values and ethos, she shares the importance of blending technology suited for different schools. Moreover, with her experience of dyslexia, Philipa further discusses utilising technology to cater to the learning needs of all students. Using examples of different digital learning resources, she highlights technology as a crucial tool in stimulating the potential of students with special needs.

By adopting a digital ecosystem, schools can efficiently design, contextualise and construct a distinctive education system that aims to maximise student and teacher development. Ultimately, Philippa’s insight into the digital ecosystem serves as a fresh perspective in expanding the digital vision in education.
